For newcomers, they’re also an ideal first step into the world of blacksmithing—

    This is a newly added workshop class and we think it will become as popular as our forged steel skull. Keep that in mind because we anticipate that spaces for this class will fill up quickly. Each student will forge a steel ravens head skull out of a 4"x2"x2" chunk of mild carbon steel. Using our hydraulic press and a variety of chisels and other tools, each student will forge their own ravens head. Once forging is complete, students will use a variety of grinders to clean the skull and then will use chemicals, heat and colored waxes to patina the skull. C'mon you know you want to make one!

    In this class, students work with steel, brass and riveting tools.

    Spend an afternoon at the forge and walk away with a matching set of hand-forged serving pieces you'll reach for at every birthday, holiday, and celebration to come. In this hands-on class, you'll shape a cake knife and pie server with twisted, sculpted steel handles and bright brass blades — the kind of heirloom pieces that look as good on the table as they are to use. No experience necessary. Whether you've never touched a hammer or you're a few projects in, our instructors will guide you through every step, from drawing out and forming the handles to riveting the brass blades into place. You'll learn real blacksmithing fundamentals while making something beautiful and genuinely useful.

    Hand Forged Copper & Steel Ladle and Stainless Spatula with Forged Handle

    In this class students will work with mild steel, stainless steel, and copper.

    In this class, you’ll get to make your own unique ladle by forging a small copper bowl and a sturdy steel handle. As well as a stainless spatula using similar techniques. We’ll show you how to shape each piece, then put it all together using traditional riveting techniques. No experience needed—just come ready to get creative and have fun!

    Troll Cross Class

    Students will learn basic blacksmithing techniques as they forge their own Troll Cross—a traditional Scandinavian amulet believed to protect against trolls and evil spirits.

    In this class, students will learn foundational blacksmithing skills as they heat, twist, and hammer steel to create their own Troll Cross amulet. The Troll Cross (trollkors) is a piece of Swedish folklore—a looped iron symbol believed to protect its wearer from trolls, elves, and malevolent magic. Iron and crosses were both thought to repel evil, and together they formed a powerful talisman worn by early Scandinavian people. As they forge, students will learn not just the technical process, but also the cultural significance of the Troll Cross and how it continues to endure as a meaningful symbol of strength and protection. Each participant will leave with a finished, hand-forged amulet—part craft, part folklore, and fully one-of-a-kind.

    Leather Skull

    Sculpt a Mini Leather Skull Using Traditional Tools & Techniques

    Students will use a variety of tools and processes to cut, sand, punch, sew, sculpt, stain, polish and paint their very own leather skull (of the human variety, but not as large).  Due to the amount of time it takes to go through all of these processes, this class will last two days to allow students to finish the projects.

    Knife Throwing Class

    In this class students will be able to complete 2-4 blades using stock removal techniques and then learn to correctly throw them at wooden targets.

    In this class students won't be forging their blades but instead will use a variety of stock removal techniques to shape and sharpen their knives. Each student should be able to complete 2-4 blades. Once students have completed their blades, Olivia Ballard will be on hand to teach each student how to correctly throw their blades at wooden targets. And I'm pretty sure she is going to bring a whole case of other sharp pointy things that students will be able to try throwing at the wooden targets. So, dangerous and fun.     Pyrography (Creative Wood Burning)

    Learn the art of wood burning as you turn plain wood into personalized works of art. This class covers basic pyrography techniques and includes multiple wood pieces to create with.

    Pyrography, or wood burning, is a fun and creative art form that involves creating designs on wood by burning it with a hot tool. This technique has been used for centuries and allows artists to make unique pieces of art by varying the heat to achieve different effects and shading. Pyrography can range from simple patterns to detailed images. You’ll make wooden items into beautiful, personalized decorations or gifts.

    Students will be instructed on the use of various tips and how to use different heat settings to achieve different textures and shades. The class includes two large pieces and two small rounds. Additional pieces of wood can be purchased at an additional cost.

    Students will learn about forging both copper and steel to make a coffee scoop.

  • Students must be 16 years old to enroll.
  • Classes are not welding certification classes.
  • Payment for classes or workshops must be paid in full prior to the first day.
  • There will be no refunds once classes have begun.
  • Class sizes are limited. See class description for details.
  • 8-Week & Workshop classes must have a minimum enrollment of 3 to hold the class.
  • Bring sketch book to each class
  • Wear appropriate clothing (ie. steel toe boots*, jeans, long sleeve shirts), NO synthetic clothing - cotton and denim only.
  • Purchase welding gloves for the 8-week classes. These can be found at Linde, Airgas, or Lowes.
  • All other tools and materials will be provided.
