Our 8-week blacksmithing classes are where the real transformation happens.


Join us one night a week—Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday—and build your skills over time. You'll learn core blacksmithing techniques, work on progressive projects, and get comfortable swinging a hammer, tending the forge, and making steel do what you want it to do.


This summer, we’re also offering a special Advanced Bladesmithing class on Tuesday nights—perfect for returning students looking to dive deeper into blade design, shaping, and finishing.


Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to sharpen your skills (literally), our weekly classes give you the time, tools, and space to grow.

Summer 2026 - 8 week Classes

    Intro to Blacksmithing & Steel Fabrication

    This 8 week class covers basic blacksmithing and steel fabrication techniques.

    This class covers beginning Blacksmithing techniques and processes as well as plasma cutting, MIG welding, the use of a variety of grinders with a bit of Blacksmithing history thrown in.

    Advanced Bladesmithing

    This 8-week class is for current students who want to expand their bladesmithing knowledge through advanced projects or by curating their own projects.

    This 8-week class is for current students who want to expand their bladesmithing knowledge through advanced projects or by curating their own projects.  Students will forge one to three blades during the course.  Projects curated by students must meet with approval of the teacher and will be approved based on materials needed. 
    Optional guided projects include the following:

    • Spring Steel Intregal Knife (hidden tang). This blade will be forged using 3/4" round stock spring steel and students will utilize guillotine tools and grinding guides to help to shape and grind the blades.
    • Flat bar Hidden Tang Blade. Brass or copper will be used to create bolsters for these blades.
    • Full Tang Blade. Similar to the types of blades made in our Intermediate class. Overall design is up to the student.
    • Small EDC Full Tang Blade

    Pre-requisite: Students must have taken at least one full session of the Intermediate Bladesmithing class at Blue Hell Studio.

    Intermediate Blacksmithing & Steel Fabrication

    This 8 week class builds on the Intro class techniques and processes and adds more complicated smithing and fabrication techniques.

    The intermediate class will build on the techniques learned in the intro class adding more complex projects and processes as well.

    Prerequisite: Students must have taken Intro to Blacksmithing and Steel Fabrication.

    Intermediate Bladesmithing

    Students will hand forge 2 separate knives during this class.

    Students will be forging a variety of blades that may include any of the following: camping knife, hunter, chefs knife, paring knife, skinner, or cleaver.

    Pre-requisite: Students must have taken at least one session of the Introduction to Bladesmithing class at Blue Hell Studio.

    • Students must be 16 years old to enroll.
    • Classes are not welding certification classes.
    • Payment for classes or workshops must be paid in full prior to the first day.
    • There will be no refunds once classes have begun.
    • Class sizes are limited. See class description for details.
    • 8-Week & Workshop classes must have a minimum enrollment of 3 to hold the class.
    • Bring sketch book to each class
    • Wear appropriate clothing (ie. steel toe boots*, jeans, long sleeve shirts), NO synthetic clothing - cotton and denim only.
    • Purchase welding gloves for the 8-week classes. These can be found at Weldco / Praxair, or Lowes.
    • All other tools and materials will be provided.
